ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: In this paper, the object of the study is the wheelset that is restrained by primary suspension. The equation of wheelset motion has been decomposed into three parts: wheelset resilience section, suspension section and creep section. The wheelset hunting phenomenon was studied with the method of energy, from which the critical condition of hunting instability has been achieved. The results show that the hunting frequency calculated by energy method is just similar to the Kingel’s hunting frequency.
