ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In recent years, more and more ports are built away from the coastline, located in the open deep waters. These offshore deep-water ports face more hostile natural conditions than coastal ports, especially the long-period waves. It has a strong penetrating power and considerable energy that can easily cause the large amplitude motion of mooring ship, and thus leading to accidents. The effect of wave periods and wave heights on the mooring vessel is studied numerically in this paper, using the software Moses. The change of movement with wave period is analyzed in detail, and a forecast is made for the dangerous wave period. For the wave height, the change of movement with wave height is also analyzed in detail. The results can provide technical reserves and scientific basis for further research and exploration of mooring safety problems.
