ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This paper proposes an uncertain method for structural response reconstruction based on a joint force-state estimation algorithm which was originally presented for optimal control applications. The modally reduced order model is used for structural dynamics. In addition, optimal sensor placement is performed by taking the minimum average variance of the reconstruction errors as the optimal objective. A simply but effectively heuristic algorithm is adopted for optimizing the sensor placement. Finally, a numerical study on a cantilever beam is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
