ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The bending load on the collet connector could lead to serious accidents. So this paper is concerned with analyzing the bending stress of the collet connector, which is properly sealed. The principle of the collet connector was described based on its mechanical structure. Bending loads on the connector came mainly from the waves and currents which acted on the jumper. The bending property of the collet connector was analyzed based on the load capacity of the jumper. Therefore, we could obtain the maximal moment, the tensile stress on dangerous cross-section, the extension value and the elongation. The bending experiments were carried out on the subsea connector load testing-device, the seal performance of the collet connector was perfect, the deviation of the extension value in the experiment compared with the theoretical calculation was small. These experimental results verified the validity of the theoretical calculation of the collet connector bending stress.
