Application of fault tree analysis diagnosis on the gearbox of certain type of self-propelled artillery

ABSTRACT: In this paper, an analysis has been made on the causes of difficulty and failure in gear engaging of certain type of self-propelled artillery before constructing the fault tree. Based on the results of the qualitative analysis of the fault through calculation of minimum cut sets an effective diagnosis, and implementation plan is introduced by following the principles, that is “Inspection before the test, complexity before simplicity, judgment before disassembly and outside before inside”. This method has the advantages of simplicity, visualization, and availability.
