ABSTRACT

One of the important elements of the systemic approach to infusing innovation into organizations is how organizations create, explore, and test their ideas, whether for the systems and products the organization develops or to enhance the performance of the organization itself. This chapter on Design Thinking explores these topics in greater detail. Specifically, you will learn why to consider using Design Thinking in your organization, the linear and non-linear processes of Design Thinking, key methods and tools, and finally, illustrative case studies that will help you better understand how you might integrate this problem-solving process and its underlying methods and tools into your organization. An excellent example of the application 198of Design Thinking to real-world problems is found in Chapter 17 (Tactical Advancements for the Next Generation [TANG]).
