ABSTRACT

MakerSpace provides the proximity for staff to explore and create with ready resources. Key to achieving the potential in a MakerSpace is skill building. In this manner, we combine the peer-to-peer training, which was discussed in Chapter 8, with the MakerSpace to achieve rapid skill building. Chapter 14 discussed the establishment and operation of a MakerSpace with focus on the mechanical features; this chapter will delve into electronic features. In the second half of this chapter, the reader can follow an actual tutorial entitled 252Microcircuit 101. In the overall framework, access to resources and knowledge building is key to situation awareness and preparedness and giving staff the resources for creation and prototype demonstration. For this discussion, let us descend (or ascend depending on viewpoint) into the world of a “maker.”
