ABSTRACT

Vasu & De 2010) and experimental (Olivares et al. 2009, Berli 2009) works have been reported on the electroknietic flow of electrolyte non-Newtonian fluids in microchannels. All of these studies indicate that the non-Newtonian effect on fluid velocity, friction coefficient, apparent viscosity, and heat transfer cannot be neglected in microscale fluid flow. Since the electrokinetic phenomena in a salt-free solution are different from those in an electrolyte solution, an in-depth understanding of the transport process of the salt-free Newtonian fluids in microchannels is essential.
