ABSTRACT

This chapter describes work happening at Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC 1 ) in Bristol, to ensure that local people have greater agency in determining both the data gathered for “The City” and the ways in which this data are used. Since 1996, KWMC has been commissioning socially engaged artists to work with data in various ways. Most recently, working with Ideas for Change, 2 supported by the Bristol City Council (BCC) and with input from the University of Bristol, KWMC has developed “The Bristol Approach to Citizen Sensing” (TBA).
