ABSTRACT
The middle ear cleft encompasses the tympanic cavity, the eustachian tube anteriorly and the mastoid air cell system posteriorly.
The tympanic cavity is an air-filled space within the temporal bone, which is divided into three compartments:
● Epitympanum (upper compartment, commonly referred to as the ‘attic’) lies above the level of the malleolar folds.
