ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to explain the efficacy of social media in aiding teaching and learning. Using digital technology via social network websites such as Facebook, MySpace, Linked In, etc. outside traditional classrooms enhances group learning. By taking Facebook as an example, it is clear how it is perceived as an innovative tool in a student based learning environment, which advances students learning experience and encourages student cooperation with their peers and members of teaching staff. In terms of teaching, using Facebook in a group-based pedagogy augments the teaching and learning process considerably and allows teachers to utilize student’s digital learning methods and presents new ways of motivating students to learn.
