ABSTRACT
This chapter portrays a brief literature on microwave (MW)-based
methods for synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). It lays a future
reference on the recent development in MW engineering for synthe-
sis, purification, and functionalization of carbon nanomaterials. The
topic describes the use of MWs in different aspects of CNT chemistry
and its development over other conventional methods of synthesis.
Here we discuss various advantages of using MW-assisted synthesis,
purification, and functionalization techniques for CNTs on the basis
of the time taken, convenience of the method, a quicker process,
high purity of products, and cost effectiveness over other traditional
processes.
