ABSTRACT

Gold has untapped potential in terms of catalytic chemoselectivity.

In this chapter, the selective action of supported gold in the hydro-

genation of functionalized nitroarenes and hydrodechlorination of

chloroarenes is analyzed in detail. Hydrogen/gold interactions are

examined, and the crucial catalyst structural and surface properties

required to achieve enhanced performance are discussed with a

consideration of process variables and sustainability in terms of

hydrogen utilization.
