ABSTRACT

Electric Arc Furnace Slag (EAFS) and Ladle Slag (LS) are produced by the oxidation and reduction processes in EAF steel-making. In the past, a majority of LS has been placed in landfills. Due to the limited availability of land and possible environmental concerns, there is an urgent need to find a means of utilizing LS as engineering materials. In the meantime, supplies of natural fine aggregate in Taiwan are dwindling. Therefore, it is proposed that EAFS be processed by magnetic-screening, crushing and sieving procedures, to produce fine aggregates to replace natural fine aggregates for making concrete.
