ABSTRACT
Innovation through scientifi c discovery is crucial for societal advancement. Energy and environmental issues are two major concerns in the 21st century for mankind to build a sustainable world (Faunce et al. 2013). To implement sustainable practices truly, energy must be harnessed more cleanly and effi ciently and renewable energy source should be pursued to convert to storable form for utilization. This revolutionary change will require novel materials, new tools and new insights to ensure success. In addition to efforts in other fi elds to realize such a change, this chapter focuses mainly on the latest summary of advanced materials based solar energy harnessing and conversion from scientifi c community.
