ABSTRACT

As described in the preceding chapters, a variety of feedstocks, feedstock types, fuel production processes, and supply chain structures are being considered as the advanced alternative jet fuel industry is developing. How feedstocks and fuels are produced and how supply chains are structured affect the ability of the resulting fuels to not only meet the technical requirements of the fuel, but also address economic drivers (e.g., price) and environmental performance. This chapter focuses on understanding how feedstock selection and processing decisions and the entire life cycle of the fuel production process affect the environmental performance of the resulting alternative jet fuels.
