CURRENT SYMPTOMS 1. Cough: is is the most common symptom in pulmonary TB and is

present in over 80% of cases. It is caused by irritation of the airways due to inammation. It is also the most common symptom of any upper or lower respiratory tract infection. e cough from pulmonary TB is oen prolonged, and in any patient with a cough for more than 3 weeks, TB should be considered. In a smoker, an important dierential diagnosis of a prolonged cough is lung carcinoma.
