ABSTRACT

The paper offers an innovative method of shaping complex shell forms made up of flat folded steel sheets transformed into spatial shapes while assembling them to shell directrices. The method enables us to create various individual ruled shells close to each other that are arranged effectively and compatibly with geometrical properties of any regular surface to obtain an innovative general form of the building. Each of the individual shells is composed of many flat sheets connected to each other with their longitudinal borders and, next, transformed in different ways according to the mutual location and curvatures of the shell directrices.
