ABSTRACT
The theory of architecture recognizes three human habitats on Planet Earth: desert, sea and the forest. Each of these three habitats, in its own way, affects the forming of the personal physiognomy and character of the people who inhabit it, but it also inscribed in genuine architecture of certain habitats. The project proposal for library building is based on integration of built and natural elements in functional, spatial and symbolical way. The Sarajevo University Library is an integral part of the Sarajevo University Campus, situated in Marijin Dvor district in Sarajevo, the former military barracks originally established during the Ottoman rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina and used for that purpose until 1992. Sarajevo University Library will be the first new building in Sarajevo University Campus.
