ABSTRACT

The rationalist conception introduces a way of understanding the structure, its materiality and the designing process of the structural system. This convergence of values determines how the treatment of structure has been addressed in the 20th century Architecture. That concept of a static structure is not appropriate for an architecture which is based on the polyhedral character of the current architecture. The search for an active participation of the user in the valuation of the construction finds an effective alternative in dynamic forms. Imbalance, instability or chaos are constituted in patterns that generate shapes. And in these patterns structure participates in an active way. Facing the imposed structural system, which comes from a form, the perception of a structure which is present in these forms that play with gravity is recovered.
