ABSTRACT
In this paper, recent experience of conservation of operating historical bridges is presented to examine how cultural and historical value is protected in conjunction with the structural functions. The type of conservation covers anti-earthquake strengthening of steel arch and suspension bridges designated important cultural property, repair works of deterioration and full-scale retrofitting of truss girders. Through analyzing recent experience of these cases appropriate methods of conservation of operating historical bridge are discussed.
