ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to quantify the energy improvement when renovating structural elements, mainly located in the building envelope. The cases studied are buildings located in the city of Seville built in the 1940s and 1950s, with load-bearing masonry facades and reinforced concrete columns and floors. The influence of structural thermal bridges in facade is analysed assessing the energy demand reduction. This research uses thermography analysis, building energy simulation, and a quantification of thermal bridges.
