ABSTRACT

Nursing education assumes the societal mandate to provide a nursing workforce with expertise to care for individuals, families, and communities around the globe. Moreover, this mandate calls for the education of our next generation of clinical nurse leaders, nursing faculty, nurse researchers, and corporate executives, across all care settings and business entities. It is clear throughout the profession that every nurse must possess a level of informatics competency to be effective in a global information society and transitioning healthcare systems anchored in the state-of-the-science information and communications technology.
