A systematic approach to Information and communication technologies (ICT) design requires a user needs assessment and iterative evaluation. The smart phone made ICT a nearly-constant human companion. Networks and connectivity became widespread and this connectivity is enabling new technologies such as wearable devices, streaming media, and the "internet of things." Fitness trackers are one of the early success stories of the "internet of things." The chapter shows the task of driving without a Global positioning systems (GPS) system on the left, and with a GPS system on the right. It is immediately clear that the GPS technology replaces some difficult and sometimes dangerous human information processing tasks. Automation is possibly the influential new technology in the immediate future. The world population is connecting itself by the use of technology while communication is being delivered instantly and ubiquitously. Despite the automation of processes and solutions, humans are increasingly getting involved with technology even in traditional fields such as education and health.
