ABSTRACT

The major challenge that permeates the theme of “Safety at Work” refers not only to the recognition of the causes, effects and management, but also its effective implementation, so that the standards to which they refer can go beyond unrealizable promises or, still, in the words of Sebastian Geraldo de Oliveira, “a statement of good intentions to become reality someday” (Oliveira, 2010). The objective of this research was to identify the importance of management systems to help prevent accidents and occupational diseases in organizations, based on the analysis of the composition of the major safety and health management systems and OHSAS 18001.
