ABSTRACT
All required information was collected through bibliographic review. Manufacturers and sales representative were consulted about their products in order to choose the suitable alternatives to T8 fluorescent lamps. The Recommendation about methodologies and materials used to evaluate the current situation and respective alternatives were described in literature Specific data about the current and technology and the alternative was consulted and respective specifications were crossed with the requirements of ISO 8995:2002 to assure suitability to the work condition. 1 INTRODUCTION
The adequacy of lighting environment to the worker and workstation should provide the maximum security, prevent accidents and work related injuries, reduce ocular and general fatigue, intentions considered in the Portuguese law Lei n° 102/2009 of 10 September the aims at assuring a health and safety at the work place, in the Portuguese law Portaria 987/93 that in the 8th article gives the minimum requirements for health and safety in the work place and in the Portuguese law Decreto-Lei n° 243/86 (1986) that regulates health and safety in the work in commercial, office and service buildings, of which is to stress that lighting systems should follow several requirements e should be suited to the different work posts.
