ABSTRACT

Besides the Brazilian scenery, another justification for this research is the situation in the European Union, as described by Saurin (2005), in which designers must analyse the accident risks during the execution of their projects. According to the author, despite the benefits for the enterprise that have been remarked in the scientific literature, real obstacles are faced by designers while applying occupational safety to the design stage, such as little knowledge of safety matters, resulting from not acquiring it properly from Engineering and Architecture degrees (like in Brazil). Hence, this paper intends to make the application of the suggested guidelines easier for professionals, including those with little theoretical knowledge in maintenance and safety, as the concepts were presented in order to create practical guidelines for the process.
