ABSTRACT

This work identifies and proposes corrective measures to learning facilities and focuses on the necessity of intensifying Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) awareness in learning environments. Thus, this study complies with the recommendations pointed out by several authors (Chin et al., 2010, Runyan and Zakocs, 2000) that education for OHS is a critical issue for the prevention of accidents involving young people, despite the lack of studies in pedagogical approaches used in related trainings and their effects in reducing accidents rates among them (Chin et al., 2010). Incident rates are also another important issue, once they are insufficient in the Brazilian case due to the methodological challenges in countries where they are monitored, such as the United Stated of America, as reported by Runyan and Zakocs (2000).
