ABSTRACT

The word antinomy derives from Greek (antiagainst, nomos-law) and is defined as an internal contradiction of a complex claim. It appears when there are two equally apparently valid statements and often stems from hidden errors or misinterpretation caused by ambiguity and a lack of an explicit definition of concepts (Tytyk & Kiliszewski, 2004). The Russian scientist GS Altshuller worked on the definition of antinomy in technology and the search for an ideal final result (Altshuller, 1972). He created the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving, which has become the foundation for the development of this theory in various fields of science. The simplest explanation of the principles of TRIZ is given by Rantanen (Rantanen & Domb, 2004), the essence of which is presented in Figure 1.
