ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Since the derailment process has some properties of random vibration phenomenon and the existing derailment criteria are not quite suitable to evaluate high speed derailment, this paper tries to provide an alternative criterion to make up for the derailment judgment system. The presented criterion considers both traditional derailment criteria and high speed potential derailment criteria, the curving radius is also taken into consideration. According to the comparisons of simulation results of a half-bogie model’s curving performance, the newly raised criterion shows less conservatism than traditional derailment criteria, in the meantime, it has higher accuracy when dealing with worse road condition under relatively high operation speed, thus proving the feasibility of adopting new method as executable criteria.
