ABSTRACT
Health information technology (IT) and nursing informatics (NI) are continuously evolving as innovations are made, legislation is passed, and regulations are implemented. This evolution brings with it exciting opportunities for nurse informaticists to transform health and healthcare in the areas of service, administration, education, and research. As demonstrated in the HIMSS 2014 Nursing Informatics Workforce Survey,1 nurse informaticists are crucial in the development, implementation, and optimization of health IT.
