ABSTRACT

The observed Plitvice Lakes Catchment area is located in the central part of the Dinaric karst, in Croatia. It is the largest catchment area within the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Due to its specific hydrogeological conditions, it can be divided into several subcatchmens. These were determined through the synthesis of research results that includes hydrogeological characteristics of the catchment area, hydrochemical and isotopic analysis of water from springs, and hydrological analysis of the surface water system. The result is a division of the Plitvice Lakes catchment into three main subcatchment areas: Matica, Plitvica and Jezera (Lakes).
