ABSTRACT

Flowering is an important phase in the reproductive cycle and strawberry production. It is a very complex process and dependent on a series of growth events that establish and develop the plant body including potential flowering sites. In horticultural terms, the transition from vegetative to flowering marks a critical phase in production process, as the emergence of flower buds signals the anticipation of fruit set. Farmers in the past might have observed the process of flowering in strawberry for a long time, and resorted to manipulation of culturing practices as well as following calendars to anticipate, or perhaps they aided the induction of flowering to suit specific needs for optimized production.
