ABSTRACT
The production and marketing of strawberries at a commercial scale form a complex business enterprise because of the large needed investment in terms of land and infrastructure with irregular and uncertain income due to the delicate nature and limited shelf life of its fruits. Its success for desired economic returns requires:
suitable land with adequate drainage and high-tech growing environment
access to an adequate quantity and quality of irrigation water with precise water discharging unit
financial resources that permit a significant level of investment into infrastructure and input costs
the ability to apply intensive management skills to the crop in a precisely timed manner
the ability to determine market potential
the willingness to accept risk.
