ABSTRACT
UCDHS needed an HIE capability that matched the geographic scope of care the organization delivers. is capability had to reach outside the UCDHS organization for sharing and access of patient data between and among all providers, whether aliated with UCDHS or not, in the geographic region. But like other care providers in the area, the organization was faced with the fact that California has not been successful in creating statewide HIE.
