ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with the perspective of poor people. It concludes with an innovative scheme linking a community in Uganda with one in Wales.

The chapter emphasises the importance of starting with the day to day reality of poor people and building upwards and outwards to make the improvements they need. It explores what citizens, civil society and international NGOs can do to improve health in low and middle income countries. It recognises their potential to work at the most local level and to develop new, innovative and more equal approaches to partnership and improvement.
