ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that the results of a methodology based on moment-curvature relationships to predict the behavior of dry-stacked post-tensioned masonry beams. It describes a non-linear method based on curvatures, for the analytical study of the behavior of Dry-stacked post-tensioned masonry (DPTM); eliminating the explicit use of the modulus of elasticity and the effective inertia. The use of DPTM requires the prediction made by the method shows that a structural calculation methods to ensure good good fit with the behavior of the beams tested in performance in the elastic range when the service the laboratory. DPTM has many technical and economic advantages when used as a construction method for outside walls of buildings exposed to wind and seismic loads. The methodology to predict the behavior of beams, slabsand other DPTM elements, is an important tool for the design of the elements because it takes into account the more essential variables, geometrical properties, and mechanical properties.
