ABSTRACT

The post attracted considerable agreement. A reading of the attached pdf of the conference program made it clear that while devices and products and systems have certainly evolved, supports for their selection and use have always kept pace. The World Health Organization 2001, considers personal factors to be an important component of the framework and, while left deliberately nebulous in definition, include gender, age, coping styles, social background, education, profession, past and current experience, overall behavior pattern, character, and other factors that influence how disability is experienced by the individual. Factors are listed in a rectangular formation that define the concept of disability. The outer layer, starting far left is Body Functions and Structures. Personal factors include gender, age, coping styles, social background, education, profession, past and current experience, overall behavior pattern, character, and other factors that influence how disability is experienced by the individual.
