ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the ways researchers have been able to define the concept of intuitive interaction by carefully designing their research and selecting appropriate data collection methods. It explores which research methods are being employed in intuitive interaction research around the world. The Intuitive Interaction Research Methods Toolkit summarizes the approaches followed by researchers all over the world that have been successful in achieving robust findings. The toolkit is categorized into four areas: data collection methods, objectives, goals, and measures. The toolkit offers a way for designers and researchers to identify the methods that they can use in their investigation once the objectives and goals of their study have been confirmed. The chapter discusses the application of various data collection methods in intuitive interaction research. Some researchers have developed or adapted intuitive interaction research methods for commercial applications, which has had some advantages and some disadvantages.
