ABSTRACT

350The thermomechanical analysis of jute fabric-reinforced polypropylene (jute-PP) composite has been investigated. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques have been used to quantify the thermal characteristics of PP, jute, and jute-PP composite. TGA results show improvement in the thermal stability of jute-PP composite over PP. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) technique has been used to obtain thermomechanical properties of PP and jute-PP composite. The addition of jute in PP enhanced the operating temperature range of jute-PP composite as compared with PP. The storage modulus of jute-PP composite is found to be 27% higher than PP at room temperature.
