ABSTRACT
Bio-drying is a biological process that aids the mechanical processing of municipal solid waste by drying biodegradable waste. It reduces the weight of biodegradable waste up to a certain amount. This process is accomplished by amplifying biological heat of required aeration. During bio-drying, aerobic decomposition of organic matter takes place for drying and partially stabilizing the municipal solid waste residue. Chapter 7 focuses on the mechanical-biological process used for bio-drying of solid waste composition. Certain treatments used for bio-drying are briefly elaborated. Increasing solid waste is a matter of extreme concern; hence, special attention is given to the biological treatments available for degrading the solid waste matter. The incorporation of mechanical and biological processes is needed for future waste management strategies.
