ABSTRACT

Food plays a significant role in the treatment of neurological conditions in many ways. Eating nutrient-dense food provides nutritional resources for all components of the nervous system, and indeed, the entire body, to function optimally. Children who have high pesticide metabolites in the urine are more likely to have attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms, such as hyperactivity. Nearly a quarter of children with migraine are considered to be refractory to pharmaceutical approaches. Migraines are a clinical manifestation of a body and nervous system in distress. However, migraine has well-known connections to food and drink. Food additives of all types may trigger migraine, including artificial sweeteners, monosodium glutamate, and preservatives, which disrupt normal neurochemistry by triggering aberrant metabolic processes in the neuron such as excitotoxicity. Nutritional supplements for ADHD are Omega-3 fatty acids, Phosphatidylserine, Iron, Zinc, Magnesium and VitaminB6 (Pyridoxine).
