ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide the readers with an overview of the main techniques used in experimental research to reproduce inflammatory episodes in in vivo models, as well and to measure the consequent inflammatory response. Considering the interconnected inflammatory and associated pain mechanisms, we will also describe the central methods to induce and measure pain. The use of experimental model of inflammation and pain is core to test new potential anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs and quantify their efficacy.
