ABSTRACT

Organic vegetable farming in Sikkim has been a major scope for income raising and uplift of farmers. In Sikkim, farmers are mostly cultivating local germplasm that they consume as well as sell in the local market. A study was conducted in Pakyong district under four GPU among 45 respondents to evaluate the effects of organic vegetable farming done by farmers. Socio-economic condition of farmers involved in organic farming was analyzed based on the market value and cost of production of vegetables. Descriptive and analytical research design was used that involved questionnaire and interview method.
