ABSTRACT

The present experiment was carried out to establish the integrated effect of biofertilizer consortium, farm yard manure (FYM), enriched compost, and chemical fertilizers on sustainable production and profitability of garden pea. The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design with seven treatments and replicated thrice. The treatments were T 1: NPK @ 20:46:0 kg ha−1 + FYM @ 5 t ha−1 (RDF), T 2: NPK @ 20:46:0 kg ha−1 + FYM @ 5 t ha−1 + biofertilizer consortium, T 3: NPK @ 20:46:0 kg ha−1 + FYM @ 10 t ha−1, T 4: NPK @ 10:46:0 kg ha−1 + FYM @ 10 t ha−1 + biofertilizer consortium, T 5: Enriched compost @ 3 t ha−1, T 6: Enriched compost @ 1.5 t ha−1 + biofertilizer consortium, and T 7: Biofertilizer consortium. The data recorded were analyzed through the analysis of variance method. The seed/pod (7.58), seed/plant (52.75), shelling (50.33%), fresh biomass (33.58 g), dry biomass (10.59 g), pod yield/plant (40.88 g), and pod yield/hectare (9.20 t ha−1) were significantly highest in T 3. The plant height (56.25 cm), pod/plant (7.13), nodule number/plant (49.17), nodule fresh weight/plant (379.20 mg), nodule dry weight/plant (96.65 mg), and nodule nitrogen (0.28%) were the highest in T 2. Number of branch, days to 50% flowering, pod length, an d pod diameter were found to be nonsignificant. The economic analysis indicated that T 2 gave the maximum benefit-cost ratio of 3.50. Therefore, it is suggested that a judicial combination of biofertilizers along with FYM and inorganic is beneficial for improving yield attributes of pea with maximum profit.254
