ABSTRACT

Greenspace is an important part of complex urban ecosystems and benefits urban communities environmentally, esthetically, recreationally, and 340economically. Green space systems play important roles in improving the ecological environment and diversity of the urban landscape. The shortage of disaster reduction and prevention function is one of the key points that leads to security issues of living environment, especially in the hill region. Focusing on large-scale botanical gardens and ecology parks for green space development meets the requirements of long-term and temporary shelter needs of local residents. Protective green space, the main components of temporary shelters, are reduced when they are changed to lands for construction. Attached and other green spaces, the main components of emergency shelters, could be destroyed by urban expansion and old urban reconstruction. Green space systems should be in right proportion with larger area of protective and attached green space to effectively function for disaster prevention.
