ABSTRACT

Performance studies in tuberose were carried out among 11 genotypes for 18 characteristics at the Horticultural Research Farm, Mondouri, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya during the year 2009-2010. The research was conducted at the Horticultural Research Farm, Mondouri, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya during the year 2009-2010 with 11 tuberose varieties, viz., Calcutta Single, Calcutta Double, Phule Rajani, Swarna Rekha, Prajwal, Vaibhav, Hyderabad Single, Hyderabad Double, Rajat Rekha, Sikkim Selection, and Hybrid CG-T-C-4. The interpretation of the recorded data reveals that double-type cultivars, viz., Vaibhav and Calcutta Double and single-type cultivars, viz., Hyderabad Double and Prajwal, performed comparatively better than other varieties in respect to yield and quality. These varieties could, therefore, be regarded as suitable and promising for cultivation in the Gangetic plains of West Bengal.
