ABSTRACT

This chapter is based on the material put together by the late Dr. Loretta Montomoli, a dear friend whose life was cut short far too soon. It presents a brief outline of preliminary risk assessments that she conducted on three homogeneous groups of workers at a vineyard near Montalcino. The chapter shows the risk analysis for biomechanical overload of the upper limbs using the OCcupational Repetitive Actions checklist in the three homogeneous groups included in the comparison. It presents the results of the risk analysis for the spine and lower limbs using the Time-Based Assessment Computerized Strategy method, comparing the same three homogeneous groups, along with the results of the analytical description of postures indicated in percentage durations. The chapter describes the results of the organizational analysis conducted in the Tuscan vineyards, with a classification and breakdown of the work into macrophases, phases, and tasks.
