ABSTRACT

NIR imaging has recently received keen interest because of many applications such as studies of polymer characterization, water adsorption in organic materials’ surface, and imaging analysis of cells and tissues. This chapter covers recent progress in NIR imaging devices and the applications of NIR imaging in biological sciences. Three kinds of newly developed NIR imaging devices are outlined, and their applications to a study of pharmaceutical tablet monitoring, NIR imaging of the biomolecular distribution in fertilized fish eggs, and nonstaining blood flow imaging are introduced.
