ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at: (1) the array of studies in this book, (2) previous work dealing with the requirements for further developing the HFE discipline, and finally (3) some very recent reports delineating the future of work. This chapter makes some concluding remarks that aim to show how HFE can meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world in a way that could facilitate sustainability and sustainable development. This concluding chapter thus delivers both a view backward at the work done in this book (and before), clustering the topics dealt with in the book as well as taking an outlook toward future developments and needs for research manifested by recent studies from the World Bank and the ILO “Global Commission on the Future of Work.”
